Atlantis, The Palm Dubai

Atlantis

Dubai
As seen by Kimberley Walsh

Indulge and Explore

As resorts go, there’s nothing you can quite compare with the vastness of Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai.
With all the thrills and rides of a theme park, dozens of restaurants, an aquarium with ‘underwater’ suites, kids’ clubs for all ages and its very own private beaches, Atlantis is a destination in itself set under the year-round sunshine of Dubai.

More than 1,500 rooms and suites ensure there’s a space to call your own that suits the needs of your party, whether you need an extra bedroom for children and Club Lounge access for snacking, or you’re seeking the tranquillity of watching tropical fish swim past your window in a Signature Suite.

Alongside the celebrity dining experiences and high-end restaurants there are buffets, brunches and casual crowd pleasers for all, as well as live music and happy hours to keep the party going late into the night.

By day there’s so much on site you won’t need to leave the resort should you wish to just ‘fly and flop’. The Aquaventure Waterpark has rides and slides for all ages, Dubai’s largest aquarium has plenty to enthuse underwater explorers, and guests can even get up close to the resident dolphins and sea lions. Oh and did we forget to mention the award-winning spa?

Atlantis, The Palm is truly a unique travel experience to create memories of a lifetime.

Atlantis, Grand Atlantis Suite Guest bedroom

Stay

Boasting a whopping 1,548 rooms and suites you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to the accommodation at Atlantis.

While this number might seem a little overwhelming, the space is such and the staff to guest ratio so high that the experience and service still has that 5-star feel.

As standard expect a balcony with a view of either the Arabian Sea or Dubai skyline. For plenty of extras including access to its own private beach there are suites with Imperial Club Lounge access, which serves a continental breakfast, afternoon tea and canapés and drinks in the evening. Or celebrate a special occasion in Dubai by opting for one of the signature suites that include the Underwater Suite where floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the marine life in the Ambassador Lagoon.

Atlantis, Ossiano Restaurant

Eat

There are some 29 restaurants, bars and lounges to experience on site at Atlantis, The Palm making it an excellent hotel choice for foodies visiting Dubai.

Celebrity chefs including Gordon Ramsey, Nobu Matsuhisa and Giorgio Locatelli all have restaurants here where guests can sample their signature dishes. Then there’s a steakhouse, Lebanese fare, a Michelin-starred menu at Hakkasan and ‘underwater’ aquarium-side dining at the super elegant Ossiano.

Not to be missed is Dubai’s largest buffet at Saffron with its famous party brunch on a Friday. Kids meanwhile will love Wavehouse serving up activities including a wave machine and bowling alongside child-friendly fare.

Vegan menus and those for special dietary requirements, happy hours at the bars and special culinary events are all to be expected at Atlantis, The Palm too.

Atlantis, Location

Explore

There are plenty of direct flights from UK airports to Dubai taking just under 7 hours. Located on the edge of the city’s famous Palm Island the resort is a 45 minute transfer from the airport.

Not that you’d need to leave, but should you wish to explore the city and its surroundings the resort’s concierge can organise day trips and transport, such as a Desert Safari, Arabian Heritage Tour and a helicopter trip across the Dubai skyline – definitely a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience.

Why here?

  • Make the most of those endless Dubai blue skies at the two private beaches and two vast swimming pools, one of which is ideal for kids. There are watersports in abundance too, including kayaks, paddleboards and jet skis.
  • The onsite waterpark and Dubai’s largest aquarium provide plenty of activities and first-time experiences, from an Aquatrek among 65,000 marine animals to getting up close to friendly dolphins, sliding down the flumes of the world’s largest waterpark to a mini marine biologist session for younger guests.
  • ShuiQi Spa is an award-winning wellness spa and fitness centre featuring couples’ treatment rooms, a salon, signature treatments, personal training and tennis courts.
  • Atlantis, The Palm really is one of the best resort’s in Dubai for families, offering a kids’ club for four to 12-year-olds, as well as The Zone for teens aged 13-17. Babysitters can be booked via the concierge, and if your little one is having a birthday while on holiday then a cake and party can even be arranged to make their day extra special.

Our take

Top of potential fiancés’ places to pop the question at the resort is Ossiano, which sees more marriage proposals than any other setting at Atlantis. The favourite way to ask the big question is by organising for a diver to hold up a ‘Will You Marry Me?’ sign against the glass of The Ambassador Lagoon while the loved-up couple dines in the restaurant.

And the underwater fun doesn’t end there. We reckon a great way to spend a night or two of your honeymoon in Dubai would be at the Underwater Suite with its floor-to-ceiling windows into the aquarium. According to Atlantis there are 65,000 marine animals living the other side of your bedroom window.

Seen it

Singer, actress and presenter Kimberley Walsh has jam-packed plenty into her career in entertainment, and that’s as well as being a mum to three gorgeous boys with husband Justin Scott.

Atlantis The Palm, Dubai was absolutely perfect for us with a young family. It was such an easy flight and very doable with the boys, and having the water park next door was just amazing for the kids. Plus it had the balance of lovely restaurants on the complex to keep us parents happy too.”
