Elissa, Rhodes

Elissa, Ella Resorts

Greece

Unlike its sister hotel Helea, Ella Resorts Elissa is an adult-friendly property, welcoming friends and couples, as well as families with grown-up children.

As such guests can expect a sophisticated feel with details to drool over. Think four restaurants – including two signature eateries with menus designed by Michelin-star chefs. And extra comforts in each suite; like a pillow menu and an orthopaedic mattress for a dreamy night’s sleep.

Indulgences to enhance each stay come in the form of treatments at The Ella Wellness & Spa, where Ariadne Athens and Comfort Zone products are used in a menu of relaxing therapies.  Then there’s a ‘Cellar Experience’ where guests can sample local wines with the hotel’s sommelier. Or of course there’s the option to just chill by the swimming pool with a Rhodes Sunset cocktail.

Day trips can be taken in the Valley of the Butterflies, or windsurfing at a famous south-island beach. Night owls can get a transfer to Faliraki for a tipsy venture down its famous Bar Street.

Ella Resorts Elissa is an exciting new luxury hotel on Rhodes with plenty to tempt those seeking sun, sea, sand and service.

Stay

The accommodation provision at Ella Resorts Elissa really sets it apart.

As standard, guests can expect a chic, bright and modern space, with some form of outdoor seating area and plenty of first-class amenities. These include air con, a fully-stocked mini-bar, WiFi and luxe bathroom products. It’s all in the detail here, so expect the likes of a beach bag with beach towels, and a welcome drink with a tasty platter of chocolate truffles waiting in-room on arrival.

Larger suite categories have a shared swimming pool, while the Water Bungalows have their own private pool.

Eat

There’s plenty to whet the appetite of hungry guests at Elissa, thanks to the four restaurants, four bars and unique Street Food Hub.

Fanes serves up buffets for breakfast and dinner with heaving tables of Mediterranean dishes, with a focus on local, Greek ingredients. Try the seafood mousakka or the lobster pasta with an al fresco view of the sea at Kavos. Fourni is a Mediterranean grill specialising in made-to-order meat dishes paired with an extensive wine list. An evening of seafood sushi entices diners into Japanese restaurant Masari. Then as well as the bars – found in the lobby and by the pools – and the underground wine cellar, there is also every visitor’s favourite: the Street Food Hub. Here guests can grab a Mexican wrap, an ice cream or crepe, burgers and sandwiches, or just a cool drink to enjoy under the Greek sun.

Explore

Ella Resorts Elissa is just 20km from Rhodes Airport. It is situated on the north-east of the island in Kallithea; a prime location for making the most of the region. The hotel is set on a beachfront and a short distance from bustling Rhodes Town.

For days out there’s the Acropolis of Lindos to learn all about the monument devoted to a goddess there, or a trip into town for a wander around the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes. A real adventure can be found right at the southern tip of the island at Prassonisi, where windsurfing is very popular. Followed, of course, with a tasty meal in one of the beach’s traditional tavernas.

Our take

Be sure to make time for a visit to Travel Seen’s favourite Rhodes spot nearby, Kallithea Springs. This pretty bay with its clear waters, that are perfect for swimming, and its elegant, Insta-worthy architecture has to be one of Rhodes’ best visitor attractions.

Did you know that Rhodes is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World? The Colossus of Rhodes featured a statue of the Greek sun-god Helios. Although throughout history it was completely destroyed, it would have given the Statue of Liberty a run for her money in its heyday!
