Jumeirah Beach Hotel

Dubai
As seen by Dr Alex
The original Jumeirah hotel, this iconic mirrored wave of a building is a landmark on the Dubai skyline as well as being a superb family-friendly luxury hotel.

Choice is the keyword with some 618 rooms and suites and 21 restaurants and bars; there really is something to suit every guest.

Its own beach, complimentary access to the Wild Wadi Waterpark and a number of swimming pools mean there’s always a spot to cool off from those year-round Dubai rays, while the stunning spa and professionally-run kids’ club offer indoor treatments and activities to escape the midday sun altogether.

Dining options mean you can eat somewhere new for each meal during your stay, everything from personalised cakes to a British gastropub are on site!

Whether you choose an entry level room or upgrade to a luxurious suite, the 5-star amenities come as standard with views of the Gulf to boot.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel is a legendary resort popular with returning and first-time guests for a multitude of reasons.

It takes just shy of 7 hours to get to Dubai from London, with direct flights from Manchester too. Once you’ve landed it’s a 25 minute transfer time to Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Set along its own beach, it’s 20 minutes into Dubai from the hotel, making it ideally situated for enjoying the best of the manmade city. Should you wish to venture out from the resort there’s a free shuttle to the city’s famous mall’s, or you can walk to the Souk Madinat Jumeirah.

Concierge can also arrange day trips to local attractions... “dune bashing” in the desert anyone?!

Why here?

There are some six swimming pools to cool off from the Dubai sun, with poolside bars and a children’s pool next to the kids’ club.

Younger guests are exceptionally well looked after with their own kids’ club, menus in most of the restaurants and unlimited access to the thrills and spills of Wild Wadi Waterpark.

The award-winning Talise Spa is in a league of its own, an area of complete calm where a tranquil terrace lets the sea breeze in. There’s a vast menu of treatments undertaken in 10 heavenly spa rooms, including the first in Dubai to use 111SKIN medi-spa products, as well as Maroc, LING New York and holistic specialists Aromatherapy Associates.

The private beach has watersports available, and there are sports courts and a fitness studio too.

Our take

The hotel is a neighbour to, and part of the same group as, what is surely one of the world’s most famous luxury hotels, the Burj Al Arab. New at this ‘6-star’ hotel is Gilt on the 27th floor, a cocktail bar with drinks of Michelin-star standards that’s set to be one of Dubai’s hottest new openings.

Major refurbishments at Jumeirah Beach have included Talise Spa, which is now the first spa in Dubai to offer 111SKIN. The brainchild of Harley Street’s Dr Yannis Alexandrides, these advanced medi-spa products are used in precision skincare treatments.
