All of the beach bungalows and overwater villas are thatched, with white walls and splashes of colour in true LUX* style. As standard expect: air conditioning, bath robes, mini-bar, complimentary Wifi and tea and coffee making facilities. 
The Family Lagoon Pavilion is a great option for those travelling with kids, featuring two bedrooms and direct access to the beach. While the Romantic Pool Water Villa has its own pool, bird’s nest swing and a projector for watching movies in bed!

Set in the Maldives’ LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort & Villas, Maldives, is on the island of Dhidhoofinolhu, just a 25 minute seaplane flight from the airport at Male.

Most flights to the Maldives stop in the Middle East on route; which is a great option if you want to twin city and sand and spend a few days on the Arabian Gulf on the way to or from the Maldives. A direct flight will take around 10 hours and the islands are GMT+5hours.

Of course the location is what entices travellers to the Maldives and at LUX* they endeavour to protect this unique environment as much as possible. One way is via the ‘world’s biggest floating solar system at sea’!

Why here?

There is 4km of beach around the resort, so wherever you choose to chill there’ll be a quiet spot. Spot tropical fish as you snorkel and swim in the crystal clear lagoon, or head to the two swimming pools, both of which are on the sunset side of the island.

The LUX* Me Spa is epic! It has four overwater treatment villas and 11 in tropical gardens. There’s a sauna, hammam, plunge pools, and both hair and beauty salons. A Yoga Grove and LUX* Me Fitness Centre are also available.  

Watersports for free include equipment for snorkelling, kayaking and pedal boats. There’s a world-class PADI dive centre, windsurfing, parasailing, SUP and kite surfing.

Younger VIPs are treated to PLAY for younger kids and Studio 17 for teens. A babysitting service is available.

Our take

The LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort & Villas, Maldives is in a Marine Protected Area and is a special spot to witness a magical natural wonder... whale sharks. The resident marine biologist can take guests on a guided dip to see these incredible giants of the sea. 
 
If coffee is your tipple of choice then you’ll get a barista made, island roasted, freshly ground cuppa at Cafe LUX*. 
 
Younger guests will feel like they’ve stepped into Treasure Island with the clues and map they’re given on arrival. Once they’ve received the eight stamps there’s a special LUX* surprise waiting for them!
