Sani Dunes, Sani Resort, Halkidiki, Greece

Sani Dunes, Sani Resort

Greece

Very much one for the grown-ups, this slick hotel has its own private beach; Michelin-starred menus in a multitude of restaurants; is close to the Marina and Watersports Centre; and boasts the largest heated lagoon-style swimming pool in the whole of Greece.

Accommodation is nestled around this striking blue centerpiece, meaning waterside access from many of the rooms and suites. Décor is modern with natural woods and plush fabrics.

At the Sani Dunes spa there are six private treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, ice bucket shower and even something called an “emotion shower”.

The private beach, set in front of the hotel, has sun beds fitted with extra comfy mattresses reserved for Sani Dunes guests. Or mix up the sunbathing with a 500m amble to Bousoulas Beach. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are heated.

Included in the nearly two dozen dining options across the resort are the three on site at the hotel, with The Market considered one of the best restaurants in the area. Here the produce is key with the menu telling a story of the ingredients.

For a mini-moon, solo traveler or just because for two, Sani Dunes at the Sani Resort is a superb option for adults seeking a luxurious Greek beach break.

Stay

Grown-up Sani Dunes offers 146 contemporary rooms. These sophisticated spots are perfect for two, set in low rise buildings around the pool. Or there’s an option for a suite overlooking the picture postcard Marina.

There are options for families for guests with older children too, offering interconnecting suites or those with an extra bedroom.

Celebrating? Then there’s nothing better than the Deluxe Junior Suite with its private garden set on the beach front. Enjoy sea views, just a few metres from the sand, through panoramic windows, or sit in your own exclusive al fresco space on comfy rattan furniture.

What’s more, guests staying in Sani Dunes suites enjoy a complimentary private tour of the peninsula.

Eat

Never mind just being a favourite at the resort, The Market, is tipped as one of the best restaurants in northern Greece. Surrounded by fresh-water pools and serving dishes which focus on fresh, high quality produce, it’s a dining experience to remember, easily making Travel Seen’s Top 5 Restaurants in Halkidiki.

Be seated inside or out at Fresco, where the fine dining Italian menu has been created by Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini. Think classics like buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad, spaghetti carbonara and tiramisu; all given the five-star treatment.

For a chilled out meal there’s Beach House, where the mezze is a particular favourite. These Greek tapas-style dishes include hummus, calamari, meatballs and homemade breads with olives and sundried tomato dipping sauce.

Sani Dunes also has three bars in the form of the Pool Bar, Dunes Bar and Fresco Wine Bar – the latter being exclusively for grown-ups.

Explore

Sani Dunes is set centrally within the Sani Resort, meaning that it’s walking distance from all of the facilities, including the Sani Marina.

With the largest outdoor heated swimming pool in Greece, and its own beach, there’s not much reason to leave. But should you decide to explore then there are chauffeur-driven excursions, biking tours and even bird watching at the stunning protected wetlands nearby.

The hotel is one of five within the Sani Resort; a collection of luxury hotels on the Kassandra peninsular of Halkidiki in Greece. Surrounded by seven beaches, 300 acres of forest and 270 acres of wetlands, and bordered by the Aegean Sea on one side, Sani is a dreamy escape for a luxury beach holiday. And all just over three hours’ flight from the UK.

Why here?

Sun, sea and sand – the private beach at Sani Dunes has all the facilities you’d expect of a luxury resort, while the heated swimming pool is the largest in Greece. In addition there’s an indoor heated pool at the spa for a dip in the shade.

Chill time – the D Spa is under the brand Anne Semonin, offering advanced technology treatments, seven private rooms, beauty therapies, a couple’s suite with a private steam bath, a special Thai massage cabin, Jacuzzi and a fitness studio.

Get active – both at the hotel and around the resort there’s plenty for those seeking a more active holiday. To name a few: yoga, Pilates, a treetops adventure, archery, watersports including SUP and academies in everything from survival to triathlon.
