The Best 3 Travel Experiences in: Halkidiki

Heading to Halkidiki? Check out Travel Seen’s not to be missed experiences before you go…

Nestled on the northern coast of Greece is Halkidiki, a region popular for its stunning coast that’s extremely easy to travel to from the UK.

With a superb selection of resorts, like the all-inclusive IKOS to the award-winning Sani, there are plenty of reasons to choose Halkidiki for your next luxury travel destination.

So here at Travel Seen we thought we’d put the spotlight on this area with a round-up of our top three travel experiences in Halkidiki; recommended by those in the know and chosen by us.

Best beaches in Halkidiki

Let’s be honest, when you think of a holiday to Greece the first image that comes to mind is “beach”. And in Halkidiki you’ll be truly spoilt for choice, with a wealth of pristine, Blue Flag certified options to tempt you down to the sands.

Our favourites include those at the Sani Resort, which are officially recognised each year with prestigious EU-Blue Flags for their clear and clean waters and 7km of immaculate sandy beaches. Guests staying here enjoy the Babewatch service included in their holiday package.

“I stayed at the Sani Resort when my two children were very little,” says Travel Seen’s Jen Atkinson. “The babysitting on the beach service, Babewatch, was just brilliant. It gives parents half an hour of peace to nip to the bar for a drink, have a swim in those gorgeous Med waters, or just sunbathe in silence for 30 minutes! A rare treat when you’re a parent to young children.”

Also boasting Blue Flag status are the exclusive sands of the IKOS resorts, Oceania and Olivia. Only for use by guests of the all-inclusive resorts, they offer parents of children over the age of four a free half an hour of childcare too, as well as snacks and drinks delivered straight to their sunbed.

Best boat trip from Halkidiki

Set as it is surrounded by the stunning blues of the Med, setting sail from the mainland of Halkidiki and exploring the coast from the sea will not disappoint.

There are numerous itineraries that can be arranged depending on your interests; and whether you want to include an activity like diving or just sit on the deck and watch the sunset.

We recommend a boat trip that’s not to be missed is one that ventures to the Drenia islets. Here the stunning stretch of water is perfect for a dip and a snorkel and you can visit the only inhabited island of Halkidiki, Ammouliani.

Best cultural tour in Halkidiki

Visitors with an interest in history or parents of children studying ancient Greek history at school should plan a morning walking around the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. The main museum in northern Greece and one of the largest in the whole of the country, it boasts a fascinating collection of ancient artifacts.

The experience is such a unique day out that guests staying at either Ikos Oceania or Ikos Olivia can claim free tickets as part of their inclusive rate.
