At Travel Seen we’re always on the hunt for new restaurants and timeless places to dine close to our luxury hotels.
So here are a few suggestions from our team and influential friends on the epic Greek island of Mykonos. We hope they whet your appetite for a trip to this stunning isle:
When putting this blog together, this particular spot was named as a favourite time and again. 180 Sunset Bar teams a delicious menu of Greek dishes and cocktails with what has to be one of the best views on the island. Next to Delos overlooking the Aegean palagos, its vantage point for a Cycladic sunset is awe-inspiring.
“The 180 Sunset Bar was the most incredible restaurant experience we have ever had,” says Instagrammer @sid_bindra. “The food and drinks were fantastic but what topped it off were the view and the singer they brought in who sang Adele cover songs.”
And @evakelemeni agrees: “The 180 Sunset Bar is one of my favourite places on Mykonos for its amazing sunset view where you can take a lot of beautiful pictures.”
The breakfast on the menu at this Mykonos Blu restaurant has to be the best on the island. Included with each stay, breakfast at Aegean Poets is the only way to start the day on a Mykonos holiday.
Think terrace seating, freshly roasted coffee, eggs cooked how you like them and plenty of homemade goodies including breads and honey. There’s a great menu for children and tables heaving with Greek yoghurts, fresh local fruits and nuts and mueslis.
Within the Katikies Mykonos hotel is this epic ‘feet in the sand’ fine dining experience. The atmospheric setting, under swaying palms with views of the sea, feels far too tropical for a Greek island just a few hours flight from the UK. And while you’re luxuriating in these surrounds you’ll be tempted by a menu of ancient dishes of Asia Minor brought into modern times; like colourful beetroots marinated in aged vinegar, Andros ‘volaki’ soft cheese and bergamot extract. Can’t decide? Then there’s a degustation menu to take you on a culinary journey of epic proportions.
This recommendation came in from influencer @evakelemeni and although we’re yet to try it ourselves, just looking at the website is making us drool.
“It’s my favourite place on Mykonos,” says @evakelemeni. “And where I can drink the best coffee. My top tip is to go on a Sunday when Scorpios hosts a party with a famous DJ.” We can’t wait to visit.
Finally in Mykonos Town there’s the award-winning Noa which tops TripAdvisor reviews for its authentic Greek flavours. The tavern-style menu is filled with traditional ingredients from the islands, but given a hefty dose of flair to present them in fine dining style. Choose mezze style dishes if you just can’t pick one; calamari with a white lemon sauce, lamp chops with country-style potatoes and a Dakos salad with feta cheese and barley are our favourites. And for pudding it has to be the Greek walnut cake.
